Lighting DesignerRobb Pope is an American lighting designer, new media engineer, and creative director with over two decades of experience working at the intersection of architecture, entertainment, and digital technology. Beginning his career as a concert touring lighting designer and video engineer, Pope founded Digital Ambiance—a multidisciplinary design-build studio based in California. His work focuses on integrating customized LED systems, projection mapping, motion sensors, and algorithmic lighting controls into architectural spaces, transforming urban landscapes and public environments into dynamic, interactive art installations.
New Media Technologies and the Future of Architainment Design is an architectural lighting initiative and keynote framework that explores the fusion of architecture and entertainment (“architainment”). Developed by Pope through Digital Ambiance, the project focuses on embedding real-time generative software, addressable pixel systems, and interactive sensor technology directly into permanent structural elements. Rather than relying on static illumination, the project redefines modern facades and urban spaces as living digital canvases that respond to environmental changes, ambient sound, and audience movement.
