Predrag Nikolic
Associate Professor, CKAD, Shantou UniversityPredrag Nikolic is an Associate Professor at the College of Knowledge and Digital Design (CKAD) at Shantou University, as well as an interactive media designer and researcher in AI-driven multi-agent systems. Holding a Ph.D. in Digital Art and Design, his work centers on Autonomous Artificial Intelligence, biological cybernetics, and human-robot interaction. Nikolic examines how artificial entities can develop autonomous behavior, emotional responses, and socio-cultural interactions, creating responsive media environments and robotic installations that redefine the boundaries between synthetic systems, human perception, and living organisms.
Syntropic Counterpoints: Botorikko, Machine Created State is an AI-driven interactive installation and robotic media art project that explores self-organizing synthetic ecosystems. Featuring autonomous robotic agents—termed “Botorikko”—the project forms a artificial state governed by dynamic machine-to-machine interactions, behavioral rules, and environmental feedback. As visitors interact with the installation, the autonomous agents adjust their collective behavior and emotional states in real time, challenging traditional notions of human authority over technology and raising questions about synthetic governance, artificial empathy, and machine self-organization.
