Eyal Gruss
Machine learning researcher and artistEyal Gruss is an Israeli machine learning researcher, creative technologist, and new media artist who holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Moving between academia, technology, and contemporary art, Gruss specializes in artificial intelligence, generative deep learning, and computer vision applied to creative contexts. His practice involves developing custom software pipelines and algorithms for poetry, interactive installations, and visual art. As a lecturer, workshop facilitator, and active contributor to the open-source creative AI community, Gruss explores the boundaries between human creativity and machine intelligence.
Neural Psychedelic Aesthetics – Deep Learning for Creative Machines is an artistic research project and presentation that investigates the visual patterns generated by deep neural networks. Utilizing feature visualization, deep dream algorithms, and generative adversarial networks (GANs), Gruss examines how machine learning models reconstruct imagery in ways that mirror psychedelic phenomena, altered states of consciousness, and dreamlike abstraction. The project serves as both an aesthetic exploration and a critical inquiry into artificial latent space, demonstrating how computational visual hallucinations can be harnessed for novel creative expression.
