Biayna Bogosian
Interdisciplinary researcherBiayna Bogosian is an interdisciplinary researcher, architect and educator whose work connects architectural design, computational methods, environmental data and immersive technologies. She holds a PhD in Media Arts from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. She co-founded the Los Angeles-based studio Somewhere Something, which explores the intersection of architecture, computation, fabrication and environmental research. Her work investigates how data and interactive technologies can reveal relationships between people and their surroundings, supporting more responsive and socially engaged built environments. She has taught at institutions including Columbia University, USC and Tongji University.
Sensitive Environments explores how environmental data and interactive technologies can inform the design of responsive architectural spaces. In a workshop led by Bogosian at the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Yerevan, students used GIS data, environmental sensors, Arduino microcontrollers and Rhino-Grasshopper to develop dynamic interventions for buildings. Some concepts included installations responding to changes in light or sound intensity, connecting environmental conditions with the experience of the built environment.
