Artist

Amaia Vicente is a Spanish artist, researcher, and educator whose work explores the intersection of performative art, technology, dynamic sound, and the human body. Holding a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), her practice examines how interactive interfaces transform physical gesture, sensory perception, and spatial awareness. Through site-specific installations, wearable sensors, and interactive audio-visual systems, Vicente investigates the body not merely as an end-user of digital technology, but as a primary living medium and generative interface within contemporary media art.

The Interface Body in Interactive Artistic Installations

The Interface Body in Interactive Artistic Installations (El cuerpo interfaz en las instalaciones artísticas interactivas) is an artistic research project and conceptual framework that investigates how the human body acts as a technological and aesthetic mediator. The project explores interactive environments where somatic input—such as movement, touch, physiological signals, and bodily presence—replaces traditional peripherals like screens or keyboards. By converting physical gestures into real-time visual, sonic, and spatial feedback, the installation redefines the boundary between machine systems and human corporeal experience, questioning how interactive technologies alter identity, embodiment, and physical agency.
