Jeroen Peeters
Studio DirectorJeroen Peeters is a Dutch interaction design researcher, studio director, and practitioner focused on constructive design research, tangible interaction, and embodied cognition. Holding a Ph.D. in Interaction Design, Peeters served as Studio Director and Senior Researcher at RISE Interactive (formerly the Interactive Institute Swedish ICT, tii.se) in UmeƄ, Sweden. His work bridges human-computer interaction, phenomenology, and spatial design, creating physical-digital prototypes and interactive environments that explore how sensory engagement, active perception, and bodily movement can shape social dynamics, urban planning, and sustainable futures.
Developing Tools for Embodied Spatial Design is an interaction design research initiative centered on creating experimental frameworks and software-hardware interfaces for spatial design workflows. Departing from traditional screen-bound CAD environments, the project investigates how designers and participants can utilize their physical movement, spatial orientation, and bodily awareness to model and inhabit digital architectures in real time. Combining physical computing, virtual/augmented spatial projections, and tangible input systems, the toolset enables an intuitive, movement-first approach to urban planning and spatial composition that grounded design decisions in first-person sensory experience.
