New Media ArtistNatalia Fuchs is a new media researcher, art historian and international curator. She has worked with major cultural institutions and events, including the Moscow International Film Festival, VIENNAFAIR, the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow and the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Germany, where she co-curated the technological art exhibition Open Codes. Her work focuses on the intersection of contemporary art, technology and interdisciplinary research.
Content Aware Studies explores the role of materiality in contemporary art through artificial intelligence, machine learning and 3D printing. Developed by artist Egor Kraft and curated by Natalia Fuchs, the project focuses on reconstructing missing fragments of ancient sculptures and friezes, initially working with the Gigantomachy frieze of the Pergamon Altar. Algorithms trained on extensive collections of images and 3D scans generate reconstructions of lost sections, which are then reproduced in transparent polymers. By contrasting these artificial additions with the original marble, the project questions the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds, the automation of artistic labour, and traditional notions of authorship and cultural heritage.
