PRZEMYSŁAW JASIELSKI is active in the installation, object, drawing and photography fields. He was born in 1970. He lives and works in Poznań, where 1994 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. His works are constructed on the basis of surprising scientific methods. He analyses natural and supernatural phenomena, creating refined constructions, often interactive; their role is to enable the viewer to experience physically such phenomena as the rustling of angels’ wings, an earthquake or global warming. He has presented his works in more than an dozen individual exhibitions, including: Earth Rotation Speed Control Unit (OPTICA Centre for Contemporary Art, Montreal 2003); Ukukula (Munandi Art Center, Lusaka 2008); Global Warming Control Unit (Gyeonggi Creation Center, Seongam-dong 2010); Paper Bridge over Stone Water (Tokyo Wonder Site, Tokyo 2012); Analog Immigration (CSU Galleries, Cleveland 2013). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including: Ideas outside Ideology: The New Generation in Polish Art (Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw 1993); Nature and/of Art (Bunkier Sztuki, Krakow 2004); homeMade (Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art, Gdańsk 2013); Post-Technological Experiences. Art –Science – Technology (Zamek Cultural Centre, Poznań 2014); Machined Senses (The Sculpture Center, Cleveland 2014); L’arte differente: MOCAK al MAXXI (MAXXI, Rome 2016). As part of his project Nonsense technologies carried out together with Rainer Prohaska, he exhibited his works in MONA Inner Spaces MONA Inner Spaces (Poznań 2015); The Sculpture Center (Cleveland 2016), WRO Art Center (Wrocław 2017) and MOCAK (Krakow 2017).
Artificial Unintelligence. Stubborn Machines and Sneaky Robots.
“I believe technologies are now created without consideration of mundane goals. And it seems they never meant to – the very foundations of Western culture are about to inspire prophets of technological progress to aim transcendent purpose.
In my art I want to utter my feelings about progress of robot design that seeks to satisfy a desire to artificially create what was considered the most perfect creature in the universe – a human being. My mechanoid robots are suppose to give a thought of uneven relationship between robots and humans that is advancing in this state of this accelerating reckless pursuit.”
