Javier Osés Martínez de Zúñiga is a researcher, teacher and university lecturer. From the very beginning of his research career, he has maintained a strong scientific and artistic interest. Over the years, he has collected a range of materials with high aesthetic and artistic potential and, in his spare time, has explored ways to investigate their synthesis and modification, as well as the physical principles behind the microscopic processes that create aesthetic changes in matter.
Building on the work he has carried out in this area since 2015, he developed a new concept of scientific-artistic creation, which in 2020 led him to launch Hidden Reflections, a project through which he shares some of the knowledge generated as an artist-researcher and reveals the hidden beauty on the surface of materials.
Science, Materials, Augmented Reality & Technology (SM-ART)
Following the development of the scientific/artistic project Hidden Reflections, the union of materials science and art served as the starting point for the VISUAL-TECH 4.0 project. This project aimed to develop high-impact audiovisual content based on 3D animation and augmented reality. This content was used as an educational tool to convey knowledge based on the artworks of Hidden Reflections.
This combination led to an interactive exhibition, called SM-ART (Science, Materials, Augmented Reality & Technology), that brought together science, art, and technology. Visitors were able to enjoy artworks created from microscope images obtained in the laboratory and, through an AR-based information layer, learn about concepts related to optics, microscopy, light, matter, and nature.
