The international Technarte conference returns to Bilbao on Friday, May 16, reaffirming its status as a global benchmark in the convergence of art and technology. The Euskalduna Palace will host a day filled with talks, performances, and immersive experiences exploring themes such as the emotional connections of artificial intelligence, bioart, interactive installations, and data sonification.
The program features 11 internationally renowned artists and technologists. Designer Weronika Mikłusiak will open the day with a reflection on nostalgia and the digital creation of scents. She will be followed by interdisciplinary artist Tansy Xiao, who will present “Here’s the information we collect”, a sound installation critiquing social media privacy policies. Data artist Burak Korkmaz Schwichow will address data sonification in the Anthropocene era, while Erika Mondria will explore human-computer interaction from an artistic perspective.
Designer Soojung Ham will analyze emotional and cognitive connections in AI-driven systems. In the afternoon, Liudmila Siewerski will question the ownership of digital facades, and Lily Hunter Green will present “Silencing the virus”, an installation that merges art and biotechnology. Calin Segal will introduce his concept of “sculptural storage format,” and Anastasia Koroleva will discuss synesthesia in contemporary art. Khristina Ots will explore artificial intelligence as a driver of empathy toward nature, and Xinye Lin will present a multisensory immersive meditation experience.
Technarte will conclude with Technarte LIVE, where Koroleva will offer a live performance based on her sound art compositions and improvisations, while Xiao’s installation “Here’s the information we collect” will remain open for audience interaction.
