Javier Osés Martínez de Zúñiga

Since the start of his career as a researcher, the industrial engineer and university lecturer Dr Javier Osés Martínez de Zúñiga has always had a scientific and artistic interest, selecting various materials of great aesthetic and artistic value. He has also sought to investigate the synthesis and modification of materials, as well as the physical principles involved in the aesthetic changes that materials undergo at a microscopic level.

Hidden Reflections

Creating art from micrographs of the reflections produced by the interaction of light with transparent layers of nanometre thickness. This is the concept behind the work of artist and Doctor of Materials Engineering Javier Osés Martínez de Zúñiga as part of his art project “Hidden Reflections”. To create his work, Osés draws inspiration from light and how it interacts with everyday objects such as a soap bubble. To counteract the ephemeral nature of such materials and to be able to play with the colours produced within them, Osés has developed a process for synthesising layers with controlled properties.
